Peter
Best
Peter Best, while born in Asheville, is a native of Brevard,
North Carolina. After graduating with a degree in Economics
from the University of the South, Peter graduated from the
University of North Carolina School of Law in 1969. Peter’s
practice has concentrated on commercial and residential real
estate, with an emphasis on commercial development and multi-family
development. Peter has represented buyers, sellers, lenders
and acted as title counsel for numerous hotel projects, “big
box” retail and multi-unit condominium projects. In
1990, Peter was one of the original authors of North Carolina’s
Specialist Exam in Commercial and Industrial and Residential
Real Estate. Peter has served as chair of the Board of Adjustment
for Buncombe County.
Peter has served for many years as the representative of
the Board of Law Examiners of the North Carolina Bar Association
for the 28th Judicial District. For the past fifteen years,
he has served on the local board for the North Carolina Teaching
Fellows Scholarship Board and Peter is past vice-president
of the Fletcher Volunteer Fire Department.

Scott
Best
Scott Best is a native of Asheville, North Carolina and
a 1994 graduate of the College of William and Mary with concentrations
in Philosophy and Government. After graduating from the Cumberland
School of Law at Samford University, Scott returned to Asheville
to begin his legal career.
Scott’s practice includes representing buyers, sellers,
lenders, construction companies and brokers in both residential
and commercial transactions. Scott represents both institutional
and private lenders in foreclosure actions, serves as local
lender counsel and in bankruptcy actions.
Scott is the outgoing President of the Young Lawyers’ Division
of the 28th District Bar Association and has served on the
Bar’s local disciplinary committee. Since 2003, Scott
has served on the Advisory Board for Capital Bank and is
active in various community organizations.

Jason
M. Peltz
A native of Missouri, Jason Peltz is a 1998 graduate of
Washington University in St. Louis and received his law degree
from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2002.
Jason focuses his practice on representing all parties
involved in residential and commercial real estate transactions,
with a particular emphasis on assisting first time homebuyers.
In addition to representing land developers in both the acquisition
and development phases, Jason also represents lenders in
foreclosure and collection actions.
A member of the North Carolina and Buncombe County Bar Associations,
Jason is also active in the United Way, where he and his
wife, Amita, serve on a committee promoting philanthropy
among young professionals in Buncombe County. They are also
involved with the Cut the Risk program for the Western Carolinians
for Criminal Justice and the Asheville Affiliates. An avid
fly fisherman, Jason can be found on the area streams and
rivers on most weekends.
